Miller Tames Fog 2-1, 15 Ks
|
Everything was working for Richard Miller today at Timber Hawks Ballpark. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The changeup was working.
In an unforgettable performance, the 22-year-old Miller fanned 15 Fog and sparked the Monongahela Monsters to a 2-1 victory over Sunset District. He left Fog hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.
"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Monongahela manager Sancho Tornero. "His location and command were really something."
In addition to collecting 15 strikeouts over 6.1 innings, Miller allowed 1 hit and 2 walks in a superlative outing.
"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Miller said with a smile.
Taking a look at his season, Miller has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 5-5 won-lost mark and a 1.74 ERA. In pitching 98 innings, he has totaled 138 strikeouts and 48 walks.
