Gribble Stars in 7-6 Blitzkrieg Win
|
The Port Huron Blitzkrieg beat the Norfolk Pajaritos, 7-6, at Norfolk Field. Dale Gribble, in particular, was impressive. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Port Huron reliever Ben Jones, now 1-0. The loser was Frank Vetter. Gil Childers sewed up the save, his 20th.
With Port Huron leading 4-2 in the top of the fourth, Gribble hit a 2-run single off Norfolk hurler Frank Vetter. It was the 19th hit of the season for Gribble and put his team ahead, 6-2.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Gribble told the Port Huron Gazette.
Port Huron is now 33-38, while Norfolk is 31-40.
