Pat Schmidt knocked in 3 runs to help Ft. Myers beat Tortolita, 8-6. Schmidt produced 1 single and 1 home run. Ft. Myers reliever Brent Richardson got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Cliff Scarlett was tagged with the loss. Pie-qi Huang earned the save, his 3rd, for the Marlins.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Marlins had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when designated hitter Ziad Fakhir hit a 2-run single. The single came off Cliff Scarlett and made the score 5-0, Marlins. Fakhir went 1 for 4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Fakhir, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."

The Marlins now have a record of 22-23 with the win over Tortolita.
