Pajaritos Inch Closer to .500 With 5-3 Win
The Norfolk Pajaritos beat the Sunset District Fog, 5-3, at Norfolk Field. The win was due in part to first baseman Gale Boetticher, who was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times. Norfolk reliever Dan Watson picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Craig Smith was saddled with the loss. Getting the save was Álex Landol, his 3rd.

The Pajaritos got a big hit from right fielder Armando Merza. In the bottom of the sixth, Merza pounded a 2-run home run to right. His 5th home run of the season put the Pajaritos ahead, 4-2.

In postgame comments to the Norfolk Chronicle, Merza said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Norfolk is now 15-16.
