Marino, Red Pandas Beat Monsters, 4-2
|
The Sioux Falls Red Pandas beat the Monongahela Monsters, 4-2, at Timber Hawks Ballpark. The Red Pandas got a fine performance from left fielder Tony Marino, who was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Ki-seop Ch'oe, who threw 82 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits. Kirby Perkins closed the door for Sioux Falls, picking up his 6th save of the year.
Marino came through with some timely hitting for Sioux Falls. With Monongahela trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh, Marino hit a 2-1 fastball for a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season made it 4-2, Sioux Falls.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Sioux Falls manager Fred Leos.
The loss drops Monongahela to 4-13.
