Rocks Improve to 52-50 with 3-2 Win
|
The Plymouth Rocks did just enough to secure a victory over the Bakersfield Nobles, 3-2, at Plymouth Quarry. Nobody did more than pitcher Josh Sargent. Sargent went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 9-11. Norbert van Poppel earned his 34th save in 38 chances.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Rocks had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when catcher Edward White hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Brandon Moyer and made the score 3-0, Rocks. White went 1 for 3 with a walk.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Jesús Román.
The Rocks bumped their record to 52-50 with this latest triumph.
