Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Rocks
In a low-scoring affair between the Plymouth Rocks and the Syracuse Starks, pitcher Jon Curtis was the difference between victory and defeat. The Plymouth left-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 Rocks win. Kullervo Koistinen came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Plymouth, now 30-41, holds down last place in the Premier AAA.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, second baseman José Gamboa won it for Plymouth. With the bases loaded, Gamboa hit a 1-2 fastball from Yoichibei Maekawa for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.

"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Curtis said.
