Disaster Pick Up 4-2 Win Over Vermont
|
Ken Stjerna had a hand in Port Royal defeating Vermont by the score of 4-2. Stjerna went 3 for 4 at the plate, scoring 1 times and driving in 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Jeremiah Cole. He's now 5-6. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits for the Disaster. Robert Brewer got credit for the save for Port Royal. It was his 24th of the year.
Stjerna contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Port Royal in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Stjerna took a fastball from Francisco Colón and stroked the double to left. His 6th double of the season allowed the Disaster to leap in front, 2-1.
In postgame comments, Stjerna told the Port Royal Daily News: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
Port Royal is now 53-43, while Vermont is 36-60.
