Starks first baseman Bill Strong put his stamp on his team's 12-9 win over the Baton Rouge Brass. Strong was 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for Syracuse in the contest. The winner in relief was Mario Méndez. He is now 3-0. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. The 5th-place Starks improved to 20-22.

Syracuse used a clutch hit from Ramiro Rivera to get the win. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Starks ahead, 12-9. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
