Calgary Lynx pitcher David Rubin was in fine form, leading his team past the Syracuse Starks, 3-1. Doug Owen picked up the save, his 6th. The victory gives Calgary a record of 23-13.
Doing his part for Calgary was shortstop Claude Berry, who stroked a double in the top of the first. For the game, Berry went 1 for 3 with a double.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Syracuse skipper Gabriel Madrigal. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
