Austin Makes It 10 Straight with 2-1 Win
|
The Black Mambas faced a stiff challenge from Syracuse pitcher Bernard Miller, but persevered to claim a win at The Zoo in Syracuse. The final score was 2-1. Miller went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Austin pitcher Ron Mora got the win. He's now 2-3. Fraser Chambers was tagged with the loss. Eric Ramírez nailed down his 26th save.
Austin used the clutch hitting of Gonzalo Ordóñez to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Mambas ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We did just enough to win," Ordóñez said.
Austin is first in the Menard's AAA with a record of 54-34.
