The 2056 season is off to a good start for the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs. The hometown Guinea Pigs knocked off the Barton Springs Blues, 5-2, at Experimental Stadium. Gwinnett first baseman Flobert Immerrechts paced his team to the win. Roger Marshall, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Blues to 2 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Larry Pulsifer got credit for the save for Gwinnett. It was his 1st of the year.

Immerrechts had a key at-bat for Gwinnett early in the game. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave Gwinnett an early 2-0 lead.
