The losses keep piling up for the Hialeah Dodos.
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys defeated the Hialeah Dodos, 6-2, in M3L Triple A action at Dodos Ballpark. Syracuse pitcher Steve Gourin had a standout performance. Gourin went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. His record improves to 9-3. Ronald Love recorded the save, his 24th.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Shoraku Ito to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Billy Strauss, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."
The losses continue to add up for Hialeah, which has now fallen 11 times in a row.
