Despite a fine performance by third baseman Charles Cummings, the Florida Men lost to the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 5-4. Cummings was 3-3 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times. Hamilton raised its record to 39-28 with the win.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Hoyt Wall came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Florida pitcher Ed Hammons, he hit a 2-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hamilton on top, 5-4.
