The Port Royal Disaster faced a tough opponent in Vermont pitcher Daniel Ricciardo, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Monster Field by a final score of 5-4. Ricciardo went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner was Juan De La Garza in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Tsurayaki Tanaka took the loss. Port Royal is now 33-26.
José Escalante's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Tsurayaki Tanaka for a run-scoring single. It put Port Royal in front, 5-4.
"It was a good effort all around," said Escalante.
