Lake Monsters Cut Down Golden Cranes, 5-4
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters did just enough to secure a victory over the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 5-4, at Monster Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Ed Walters. Walters, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. Vermont is now 15-18.
A key moment came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Lake Monsters left fielder Johnny Edwards socked a 3-1 curveball to right-center for a run-scoring single, putting Vermont up, 5-4.
"Winning never gets old," said Walters.
