Disaster Lose By a Run at Hamilton, 7-6
|
The Hamilton Thunderbirds overcame a good performance by Port Royal catcher Edgardo Becerra to knock off Port Royal, 7-6, at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. Becerra went 3-4 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times. Steve MacDougal earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Hamilton is now 22-9, 2 games up in the Menard's AAA.
Lou Werner drove in one run for Hamilton. The 24-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Amadi Azagba. It was his 7th RBI of the season.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Werner told the Hamilton Times.
