Right-hander Steve Gourin mesmerized the Jersey City Tritons while leading the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys to a 3-0 victory. The win takes Syracuse to 4-4.

Gourin, who dominated for Syracuse, earned the victory to move to 1-1. He was in control the whole game, scattering 4 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 8. Jersey City batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Jersey City skipper Steve Bryan, "and it cost us."
