Battery Score Late, Top Northern Lions BC, 5-1
|
The Charleston Battery went home winners at Charleston Armory, thanks in large part to starter Wesley Perkins. Perkins stifled the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, enabling Charleston to grab the 5-1 win. The winner was José Correa in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Dan Taylor took the loss. James Tucker nailed down his 6th save.
Charleston took a 3-1 lead on Eric Bowman's 8th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Bowman hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Thunder Bay pitcher José Cruz shaking his head.
"Enjoyed this one," Bowman told the Charleston Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Charleston now sits in 9th place in the Third League at 10-15.
