Northern Lions BC Lose Late, 5-4
|
The Buckhead Bowties and Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC obliged fans looking for a good time.
Buckhead starter Uhi Ahipene pitched well against the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC at 5 Paces Park. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-4. Benton Johnston, now 1-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Dillon Bert came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Thunder Bay pitcher Wulf Hinkamp, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Buckhead on top, 5-4.
"No time for flexing," said Ahipene. "It's always one game at a time."
Thunder Bay, with the loss, is 7-14.
