Battery Earn 2-1 Win Versus Bowties
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Charleston Battery eventually prevailed.
The Charleston Battery beat the Buckhead Bowties by a score of 2-1. Charleston second baseman Rolf Pauw deserved the lion's share of the credit. Pauw went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Battery. Charleston reliever José Correa picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Uhi Ahipene was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was James Tucker, his 4th.
In the bottom of the eighth, Pauw put his team in front with his 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which came against Uhi Ahipene, made it 2-1, Charleston.
"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Pauw. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."
With the win, Charleston climbs to 6-12.
