Dirty Reds Suffer 3-2 Setback
|
Archie MacMurchy was outstanding against Dayton. The left-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the 3L in innings pitched with 32.0, had a slider that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Stingers 3-2 win. The winner in relief was Bernardo Hernández. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-2. Toledo has a record of 6-12.
Toledo used the timely hitting of Mark Cunningham to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Stingers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Cunningham told the Toledo Bulletin.
