Elite Lick Cattlemen, 10-2
|
The Detroit Elite defeated the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 10-2, at Detroit Stadium today. Leading the charge for Detroit was designated hitter Maikel de Braber. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Andrew Johnson, the winning pitcher, is now 7-7. He went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 1. Detroit raised its record to 66-40 with the win.
The Cattlemen had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Elite going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 32-year old catcher Al Miller came to the plate. Miller hit a bases-clearing double on a first pitch cutter from Ft. Worth hurler Chase Davis. It was Miller's 12th double of the year.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Miller.
