van Gorp Wins SMSL 2055 Most Valuable Player Award Saturday, September 18th , 2055 The future looks extremely bright for Ramon van Gorp. At the age of 18, many players are still trying to find their way in USSL Mexican Summer League. van Gorp has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the USSL Mexican Summer League Most Valuable Player Award. "I didn't expect to hit .329 this year, that's for sure," the third baseman said. The MSL Greenville 84s star also put up a .401 on-base percentage this year, with 57 hits, 9 doubles, no triples, 15 home runs, 37 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 10. Duke Hoban of the MSL Greenville 84s finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Tony Howard of the MSL Oakland Oaks finished third.
