Cortés Rocks Cajuns for 3 HRs
Monday, August 23rd , 2055
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Crowley Cajuns today.
Fort Knox center fielder Pedro Cortés tripled up on the home runs to propel the Centennial to the 9-1 win at Titans Ballpark.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Crowley manager Neal Davis said. "Cortés hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Cortés collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Pedro Cortés hit a solo-shot off Bob Stevens in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Bob Stevens in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Alejandro Vargas in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
Currently Cortés is hitting .291 and has collected 28 home runs, 51 RBIs and scored 68 times, while playing in 85 games.
