Weaver Hitless, Streak Ends at 22
Sunday, August 29th , 2055
After 22 games, Don Weaver had his hitting streak ended abruptly today by the Gulf Coast Turbeaus at Mobile Home Park. The Toledo Saboteurs shortstop failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats, bringing his tenure in the national spotlight to a halt.
Despite the tough day at the plate, Weaver seemed unconcerned after the game, talking instead about the Saboteurs taking a 4-3 victory from the Turbeaus.
"It was good while it lasted," Weaver said. "If it had to end, I'm glad it ended with a victory."
This year Weaver has socked 90 hits in 319 at-bats for a .282 average with 10 home runs. He is getting on base at a .356 pace and his totals also include 36 RBIs and 45 runs scored.
