Hops Jimmy Blankenship Will Miss Season
Wednesday, August 11th , 2055
The doctors have spoken and Jimmy Blankenship of the Yakima Hops didn't like what he heard. The 24-year-old left fielder is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Blankenship sustained his season-ending injury during the Providence Pilgrims game yesterday at Field of Plenty. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while colliding with a player at a base. Today the Yakima medical staff reported Blankenship had a torn labrum and would be absent from the lineup for at least 9 months.
Thus far this season Blankenship has hit .245 with 4 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 40 times.
