Hurricanes End Pauw's Streak Wednesday, August 25th , 2055 The Cape Coral Hurricanes got more than the 9-7 victory at Atlantica today -- they also put an end to the 22-game hitting streak of Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids first baseman Gerben Pauw by holding him without a hit in 5 at-bats. After the game, Pauw seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak. "I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today." This season Pauw is swinging the bat at a .269 rate with 87 hits in 324 at-bats. To date he has hit 14 home runs, scored 54 runs and driven in 42. |
