Mockingbirds Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Stingers, 8-5
Bert Budge did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the MSL Toledo Stingers from losing, 8-5, to the MSL Mississippi Mockingbirds at MSL Toledo Ballpark. Budge went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. Craig Chase picked up the save, his 6th. MSL Mississippi is last in the SL MSL with a record of 14-22.

MSL Mississippi needed the clutch hitting of Dave Steijnis to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mockingbirds on top, 8-5. For the game, Steijnis had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

In comments to the MSL Mississippi Herald, Steijnis admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
