The MSL Nova Scotia Leviathan faced a tough opponent in MSL Echo Park pitcher Gabel van Amersfoort, but did just enough to pull out the victory at MSL Echo Park Ballpark by a final score of 5-4. van Amersfoort went 6.2 innings and allowed 4 runs. Júlio Flores was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 10 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Andrés Ibarra recorded his 3rd save for MSL Nova Scotia.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Zhong-qi Hou was at the plate when MSL Nova Scotia scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Leviathan to go in front, 5-4.
"I like our moxie," said Leviathan manager Willie Mitchell.
The third-place Leviathan are now 28-19, the Lakers 15-32.
