Javier Spins Gem, MSL Charleston Wins
|
In a tight game between the MSL Charleston Battery and the MSL Echo Park Lakers, pitcher Manuel Javier was terrific on the mound. The MSL Charleston left-hander helped his team to the 1-0 win. Aarto Taipale recorded the save for MSL Charleston, his 13th of the season. The Battery improve their record to 20-25 with the win over MSL Echo Park.
The standout performance belonged to 18-year-old Javier. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Battery. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Lakers, striking out 8 and scattering 4 hits over 8.1 innings. Javier is now 5-5 on the season.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Sean Sanford.
