MSL Detroit got a first-rate effort from pitcher Bartolo Becerra, who frustrated MSL Long Island hitters en route to a 2-1 Elite triumph at MSL Long Island Ballpark. Becerra, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The save went to Will Miller, number 1 for him.
MSL Detroit used the bat of Raúl Marino to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Elite ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Bartolo -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Elite manager Juan Valéncia. "He was the key to us winning."
The win puts MSL Detroit at 3-0.
