Rhinos Come Up Short at Long Island, 5-4
|
Mitsuo Suzuki did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Redwood Rhinos from losing, 5-4, to the Long Island Ducks at Ducks Park. Suzuki went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Sergio Pagán, the winner, improved to 3-11. He held the Rhinos to 4 runs on 4 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4. Tomás Silva collected save number 4.
The Ducks got a big hit from pinch hitter Douglas Jarrold. In the bottom of the sixth, Jarrold smacked a 2-run home run off Redwood pitcher Dave Campbell. It was his 2nd home run of the season. Suddenly, the Ducks were ahead, 5-4.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Jarrold said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Long Island now owns a record of 30-59.
