The Tijuana Toros beat the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish, 6-5, at Plattsburgh Park. The Toros got a fine performance from left fielder Tom Gardner, who was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Tijuana reliever Rusty Oomsen got the win, raising his record to 3-5. Glenn Lortkipanidze was tagged with the loss. The Toros saw their win-loss record go to 31-46. At the same time, the Puffer Fish fell to 41-36.

Tijuana needed the clutch hitting of Casey Cooper to notch the win. The catcher hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Toros on top, 6-5. For the game, Cooper had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Milton Mathews.
