Close Win Moves Rhinos to 24-23
|
Redwood turned a good effort from starter Wang-fen Jia into a win over the Moose Jaw Canucks at Foresters Stadium. The final score was 2-1. In 7 innings, Jia surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Getting the save was Wes T. Walker, his 1st.
Redwood used the bat of Keith Ortíz to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Rhinos ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Every loss stings," said Moose Jaw manager Bobby Buck. "This one is no exception."
The win for the Rhinos raised their record to 24-23.
