Plattsburgh Puffer Fish starter Sean Long was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Tijuana Toros, 5-4. In 7.2 innings, Long surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Picking up the save was Mario Palácias, his 2nd.
Júlio Escamilla had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Plattsburgh. He came through with a 2-run single to put Plattsburgh in front, 3-0.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Long. "Successful pitchers do it."
With the win, Plattsburgh upped its record to 21-18.
