Ellesmere Island Snowpeople starter Masato Kiyomizu pitched a strong game against the Long Island Ducks at The Igloo, leading the Snowpeople to victory, 8-3. Kiyomizu went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-0. Lao-che Khoo earned save number 2 this season.

Bubba William came through for Ellesmere Island when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike cutter to center field, staking his team to a 4-3 lead.

"Masato made his pitches," said Ellesmere Island manager Jaime Torres.

Ellesmere Island is now 8-13, Long Island 5-16.
