Martínez Excels, But Angel Kitties Win
|
The Bethlehem Angel Kitties weathered an outstanding game by Flint left fielder Arturo Martínez to topple the Crush, 6-4. Martínez hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Arch Stanton got the win, improving to 8-5. He held the Crush to 3 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 1. The loss makes Flint 43-39.
The Angel Kitties got an important contribution from shortstop Jonas van Claveren, Jr., who in the bottom of the second knocked a 0-1 fastball into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Angel Kitties ahead, 3-0.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," van Claveren, Jr. told the Bethlehem News.
