Lyons, Express Get 2-0 Win
|
Napanee and Northwest Territory duked it out and the Express came out victorious.
The Napanee Express topped the Northwest Territory Beavers, 2-0, in USSL Low A action at Paints Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Napanee pitcher and Sparks, Nevada, native Nick Lyons. Donald Newman converted his 4th save in 5 tries.
Lyons's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 7 strikeouts in 6 innings while allowing 1 hit. Lyons, who is tied for 4th in the SA- with a 1.00 WHIP, goes to 4-3 on the year with 83 strikeouts.
"The old adage is true," said Lyons. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
With the victory, the Express record now stands at 34-48.
