Zoomies Lose Late, 3-1
|
The Ballard Beavers topped the Shady Side Zoomies, 3-1, in USSL Low A action at The Beaver Dam. The standout performance belonged to Ballard pitcher and Mequon, Wisconsin, native Donald Carr. Ballard reliever Mark Reece was the winner. His record is now 5-2. The losing pitcher was Jared Daniels. The third-place Beavers improved to 41-31.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Tom Sloan came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Shady Side pitcher Jared Daniels, he hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Ballard on top, 3-1.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Sloan said.
