Bobby Pennington was instrumental in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Ogallala Octopi. The shortstop went 2 for 4 with a double. He scored 2 runs for the Fort Knox Centennial. The winner in relief was Jerry Pate. He is now 2-3. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. Mark Moss got the save, the 8th for him this season.

The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Centennial were trailing 4-3. Vicente Mejía delivered a two-out 2-run single for Fort Knox, catapulting his team into the lead.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Pennington said.
