Hounds Drop Octopi, 6-1

The Hicksville Hounds racked up a win at Nebraska Aquarium, bumping off the Ogallala Octopi, 6-1. Gilberto Cruz, who started for Hicksville, pitched effectively for his team. Cruz, now 3-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. With the win, the Hounds improved to 22-32.
The Hounds got an important contribution from left fielder Joren Pelikaan, who in the top of the fourth knocked a first pitch screwball into left-center for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Hounds ahead, 3-0.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Cruz told the Hicksville Chronicle. "But we take nothing for granted."
