Fans watched the Athletic Club KC U-21 and the Maine Sea Dogs fight to the finish.
In a low-scoring affair between the Athletic Club KC U-21 and the Maine Sea Dogs, pitcher John Riley was the difference between victory and defeat. The Athletic Club KC left-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 U-21 win. Athletic Club KC reliever John Riley got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Sacha Fortunov was tagged with the loss. Millard Cowan picked up the save for Athletic Club KC, his 15th of the year.
Athletic Club KC used the bat of Loflinger Theissen to capture the win. The left fielder jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the U-21 ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"Credit where credit is due," said Theissen, "this was a team win."
Athletic Club KC has now won 3 straight, while the Sea Dogs have lost 3 in a row.
