Fans watched the Hicksville Hounds and the Ladue Rams fight to the finish.

In a tight game between the Hicksville Hounds and the Ladue Rams, pitcher Willie Silva was terrific on the mound. The Hicksville right-hander helped his team to the 1-0 win. Bob Hampton recorded the save, his 11th.

Silva, a native of Peoria, Arizona, was dealing all game. He kept Ladue hitters off-balance, while giving the Hounds 7.1 quality innings. Silva threw 101 pitches, allowing 1 hit and striking out 11.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Ladue manager Lance Davis.

Hicksville goes to 16-21, Ladue to 27-10.
