Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for U-21
|
Behind a solid performance from catcher Luis Díaz, the Athletic Club KC U-21 defeated the Amarillo Warheads, 8-5. Díaz went 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the U-21. Tim Jones, credited with the win, is now 3-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. Athletic Club KC's record now stands at 16-17, placing them 4th in the Premier Low A.
Athletic Club KC took a 8-5 lead on António García's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which García hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Amarillo pitcher Jeremy Rice visibly frustrated.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Díaz.
