Thrilling Victory Pushes Blaze Win Streak to 5
|
The South Beach Blaze stymied the Grim Reapers, 6-2, at The Ballpark on the Beach. Alan Douglas had a good day at the plate. He went 2 for 2 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for South Beach. Rick Burnett earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 5-2. The Blaze improved to a lofty 68-28.
In the bottom of the eighth, South Beach first baseman Adam Bell put his team on top. With one out and the bases loaded, he hit his 17th double of the year. Grim pitcher Gustavo Villa served it up. Just like that, the Blaze were ahead, 3-2.
"This team is real focused right now," said South Beach manager Vicente Rodríguez.
