U-21 Stay Hot, Beat Hounds, 1-0
|
Hicksville wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Gilberto Cruz, falling to the Athletic Club KC U-21, 1-0. Cruz threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The loss makes Hicksville 5-14.
Had Rhys Jeffes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Jeffes hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the U-21.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Jeffes.
