Centennial Pull Off Thrilling 3-2 Win in Extras
|
The Fort Knox Centennial had to overcome a fine performance from Amarillo pitcher Esteban Aguilar to grab a 3-2 win at Ballpark of Henderson. Aguilar allowed 2 runs over 7.1 innings. Fort Knox reliever Jerry Pate got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Wijnand Boone was tagged with the loss. With the win, Fort Knox boosts its record to 15-2.
Fort Knox used a clutch hit from Bobby Pennington to get the win. The third baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Centennial ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Fort Knox manager Justin Saginov said.
