The Columbia River Rats picked up a win at Columbia Stadium, taking down the Grand Forks Caterpillars, 6-3. Starting pitcher Eric Sims was a big reason why. Sims, now 5-8, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 1, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Their 33-42 record puts the River Rats 8th in the Premier A.

Dong-hua Sima made an early impact for Columbia when he stroked his 11th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which came with two out in the bottom of the first, put the River Rats on top, 3-0.

"Eric -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said River Rats manager Kevin McCoy. "He was the key to us winning."
