Caterpillars Deal River Rats 3-1 Setback
|
Andy Holley pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Columbia River Rats, despite Holley's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Grand Forks Caterpillars at Columbia Stadium. John Paddock, now 8-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4 innings. Nick Price earned the save, his 18th, for the Caterpillars.
Grand Forks used a clutch hit from Curt Hicks to snatch the win. The designated hitter belted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Caterpillars ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Hicks.
At 34-40, the Caterpillars are currently 7th in the Premier A.
